GET WELL AGAIN:
THE SHADOWBOXER IN REHABILITATION

Modern life (buzzword lifestyle diseases: tense back, stiff joints, etc.) is taking its toll – after an accident or prolonged sick leave the body slowly needs to get in shape again. It is the main objective of every rehabilitation measure, to get back to your old strength and enhance your body’s capabilities. The Shadowboxer is a unique workout tool to help get back in shape quickly and effectively.

TRAINING IN REHABILITATION

The goals of any rehabilitation have to be in line with the capabilites of the patient. In these circumstances the Shadowboxer proves to be an ideal tool as it adapts to the patient’s current strength level. With the Shadowboxer, the patient cannot overstrain –  especially not the joints – and trains almost every muscle group of the body.

Whether it be general rehabilitation, athletic rehabilition, continued therapy treatments, physiotherapy, or as a preventive measure – the Shadowboxer is one of the best options to productively further physical recovery.

POST-TREATMENT WITH THE SHADOWBOXER.

INTERVIEW WITH NORBERT SEKEY

Norbert Sekey is a physiotherapist in Ulm, Germany. He takes care of olympic bronze medal winner Artem Harutyunyan and accompanies the German national boxing team for all major competitions, such as European and World championships. Sekey uses the Shadowboxer regularly, both to prepare for the competitions, and for regeneration.

MR. SEKEY, WHAT IS THE SHADOWBOXER’S VALUE IN YOUR OPINION?

Because the Shadowboxer is worn right on the body, it offers a maximum in flexibility while training.

HOW DO YOU USE THE SHADOWBOXER IN PRACTICE?

The Shadowoboxer can be used in post-treatment of a wide range of injuries and conditions. For example: The shoulder is the most complicated joint in the human body. It is very sensitive because it is not supported and moved by a joint socket, but exclusively by soft tissue like capsules, ligaments and muscles. That’s why it is imperative to restore the muscular balance after a ruptured or torn ligament, or in cases of an impingement syndrome or after a surgical procedure when the shoulder muscles have decreased, or in the case of bad posture due to muscular imbalances. I am successfully using the Shadowboxer to treat all these conditions.

WHAT ARE THE SHADOWBOXER’S FEATURES?
WHY CAN A TREATMENT WITH THIS TOOL BE SO SUCCESSFUL?

Working with the Shadowboxer means retaining complete control. It is not possible to get the same swing as in training with small dumbbells, but the patient can still move quickly. Yet they won’t feel like accelerating the weight. One major advantage is the increasing resistance as the movements progress. Additonally, the elasticity of the resistance bands is slowing down the movement, creating an elevated eccentric strain – a valuable impulse to develop the muscles.
